Another lie, if you choice the charger as he destination that’s where the car will drive but it you choice the building as the destination then Tesla will drop you off in that spot.

I thought Tesla's Chademo to NACS adapter worked for all Tesla's as Chademo doesn't use CCS and took care of the translation to Tesla.

I just drove a friend's F150 lighting yesterday and charged at two CCS chargers. They got 67kw. Years ago, I owned a Bolt and most chargers required a phone call to reboot the station. Naw, I'm good... I'll just keep using tesla chargers.

Can the '22 Model X go higher than 150 kW? I remember there being a time when that was the limit using an adapter at a CCS station.

Hmm I entered a service request in the Tesla service app and selected the CCS upgrade. When it asks me to confirm the price estimate ($0) it ONLY shows checking tires and says nothing about the CCS upgrade. I've tried entering the service request twice, both with the same result of asking to approve a request that's only checking the tires. I can approve the price ($0) but get an error if I try to approve a mobile service appointment. Is there some magic to actually order the CCS upgrade? I have a 2021 M3 ( 7/2021 manufacture, and the config status page says it does not have CCS support).

I did this as a DIY before it was available from Tesla and it was one of my most used mods I did to the car. It expands the places you can go. there are many small towns around the U.S with charge point chargers and no Tesla chargers which makes it much easier when traveling.

Lorraine, I love that you cover technical information (and that it is correct information). Glad to see Tesla is finally offering the official retrofit. I did the retrofit on my 2018 Model 3 more than 2 years ago by using a harness adapter and the charge port ECU for newer Teslas that support CCS1. I even had to import the official CCS1 to Tesla adapter from South Korea because at the time that was the only place Tesla sold it.

I live in Europe, where CCS Type 2 combo like you show, is standard. It’s incredible how large that plug is compared to NACS. I hope we Can get NACS in Europe.

Congrats on the update. Soon we should all be able to charge at any station that's the most convenient. Also, it's worth noting that some charging hardware providers are looking to add 600 A and 800 A J3400 cables, and when those are deployed, these 350 kW chargers should be able to max out a Tesla as well.

¡Qué bueno! It always make my day to see another one of your posts in my feed, Lorena! I'm happy that you were finally able to retrofit your Model 3 to use the CCS1-to-J3400 adapter. Tesla delayed those upgrades quarter after quarter after quarter, and I finally just gave up. Now we'll see when and if my new EV will be able to use a J3400-to-CCS1 adapter -like Ford and Rivian.

Funny that the Tesla doesn't want to drive at the speed limit. The Waymo in front is constantly exact at the spped limit. The Tesla, when he is behind the Waymo falls back, driving 3 mph slower than speed limit and than comes closer again while driving faster than spped limit. Also the Tesla drives 22mph at the street to the botanical garden. This is nearly 50% over the spped limit.

Ive been lucky enough to get into the beta program in LA for waymo and its amazing. Love being able to just get into the car not have to deal with an angry uber driver ir a road raging one drivng me around, the first ride was a bit crazy because having a car drive itself while you sit in the back is a bit hard to grasp at first but after my 3rd ride it just became a normal thing for me. Happy am i able to witness and a ejoy a preview of what the future of driverless cars will one day be like.

Very nice, but the adapters to charge from Tesla charger to J type EV don't work well on superchargers, and charge slow when you can use them. NOW however, due to the US grant process, Tesla is making dual chargers that are quite slick...they have a built in adapter which can be unlocked from the charging unit through the Tesla app. At this time, they are very very few and only in more populated areas.

Cameras only VS lidar+radar+cameras+ things sticking out all over the place. Waymo cannot drive in rain, and cannot be use but small premapped areas, Tesla will work anywhere.

Agreed that charging at home is cost-efficient in most countries. But charging on the road can be brutal. My ICE does 34mpg (actual real‐life combined hwy and local driving) and the current price at the nearest gas station is $3.29/g. That 3.29/34 = 0.097$/mile. What is the $/mile of a typical EV charging at a supercharger? I read it once, but Iam pretty sure it is much more than what I pay.
